Reverse Osmosis Filters in Australia
Reverse osmosis water filters
What is reverse osmosis?
As described earlier, reverse osmosis refers to the process whereby water is purified by removing minutely small particles that could contain harmful bacteria and minerals. In short, drinking water is collected and pressure is applied to reverse the regular course of osmotic pressure already present. This pressure removes dissolved particles and species that may be harmful to your body. After the pressure separation has taken its course, the ‘pure’ water is available for consumption, while the contaminated reject is sent to drain.
Osmosis itself is a natural process – there are no added chemicals used to attain the result of clean water.
Filtration stages in the reverse Osmosis process
Four High-Performance Filtration Stages…
|Stage 1||Stage 2||Stage 3||Stage 4|
|Large Particle Removal||Pre- filtration||Reverse Osmosis||Polishing Filter|
|The incoming water is filtered through a high capacity one-micron pre-filter to remove silt and sediment||The water is then filtered through a sediment / activated carbon block filter to protect the membrane from any chlorine that may be present.||This is the heart of the system. Most particles too small to be trapped by the pre-filters are removed by the T.F.C membrane, reducing unwanted contaminants from the water.||This final filter reduces unwanted tastes and odours and adds the final ‘polish’ to your filtered water.|
What are the benefits
There are many health benefits associated with reverse osmosis along with the distinct improvement in taste.
- Low energy consumption
Previously, electric water purification systems (distillation) consumed too much energy. With technological advances, leading brands in the industry have developed these systems with the intention of creating a cost-effective system, not only in purchase price but in sustainable maintenance costs.
Many people try to make pure water by boiling tap water, and then placing it in a refrigerator to cool down. While boiling water does remove some impurities, the effort involved is an exercise you could do without.
You cannot put a price on your health, but reverse osmosis gives you the opportunity to drink pure water, which is beneficial to your body at an affordable price. This is not a, “he could sell ice to Eskimo” scenario. Drinking regular tap water can come at a great cost if you’re suffering from a water-related ailment.
